Los Gatos, CA · Silicon Valley · Operator-owned fleet

Los Gatos charter bus rental from the company that drives the bus.

We run into Los Gatos from our Hayward yard, roughly 40 minutes down I-880 and over the CA-17 grade, and out of South San Francisco when a trip starts on the Peninsula. No marketplace, no subcontractor, no 20–40% broker margin added to the operator rate. One dispatcher owns your job from the first quote to the last drop.

The runs our drivers already know

Distances are road miles from the Los Gatos Town Plaza at Santa Cruz Ave and Main St. Times are typical off-peak, which on CA-17 means outside the weekend beach traffic. These are runs we stage, not a keyword list.

Why it matters who owns the bus

Direct operator vs. national booking marketplace

Most sites ranking for "charter bus Los Gatos" do not own a single vehicle. They resell operators like us and add a margin. Here is what changes when you skip that layer.

What Los Gatos charters typically cost

Ranges are published so you can budget before you pick up the phone. The quote you get is itemized to the hour and the mile and holds unless the trip itself changes.

Minibus, 24–35 passengers$150–$175/hr

Driver included. Five-hour minimum, so a half day runs $750–$875. Foothill wedding loops, downtown shuttles, SJC transfers.

Motorcoach, 56 passengers$190–$245/hr

Driver included. Quoted per itinerary on top of the hourly rate because deadhead, tolls and return time change the total.

Recurring shuttle programContract rate

Fixed weekly routes for Los Gatos employers and schools. Monthly invoicing, PO-based billing and net terms.

Always included: driver, fuel, standard insurance, live tracking. Quoted separately: tolls, parking, driver overnight on multi-day trips, gratuity if you choose to add it.

Los Gatos FAQ

Answers from the people who dispatch the buses

How much does a charter bus cost in Los Gatos?

A half-day (5-hour) 24-35 passenger minibus in Los Gatos typically runs $750–$875 including driver. A 56-passenger motorcoach is quoted per itinerary, since the deadhead from our Hayward yard is about 40 minutes and foothill venues often add hold time. The quote is itemized, not a marketplace estimate.

Can a bus reach Nestldown or a Santa Cruz Mountains wedding venue?

A 24-35 passenger minibus, yes, and that is what we assign. The approach roads off Bear Creek Rd and Old Santa Cruz Hwy are too narrow and too tight in the switchbacks for a 45-foot coach, so we run more laps with a smaller vehicle rather than promising something that will not make the driveway.

Which airports do you serve from Los Gatos?

San Jose (SJC, about 12 road miles), San Francisco (SFO, about 43 miles via CA-17 and I-280) and Oakland (OAK, about 45 miles). SJC is the one we recommend for wedding parties, because a delayed flight there costs you a short hold instead of an hour of freeway.

Are you a broker or the actual bus company?

We are the operator. Umbrella Global Bus owns the vehicles, employs the drivers and runs its own dispatch and shop under CPUC TCP 0037963 and USDOT 3126263. When you call about a bus on Highway 17 you reach the company that maintains it, not a call center reselling somebody else's coach.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for a Los Gatos venue?

Yes, usually the same business day. Foothill estates and wineries almost always ask for one, and because the policy covers our own vehicles we issue it directly naming the venue as certificate holder.

Is Highway 17 a problem for a full-size coach?

Not for us, but it is a real road. We run it with drivers who know the summit grade, we build the schedule around the weekend beach backup, and vehicles going over it come out of our own shop with brake work documented. On winter dates we add time for slide and weather closures.
